Total Time – 3:28:25 I had Monday and Friday off from all working out, talk about a great taper week!
Tuesday was an open water swim. Barton Springs was finally open again, but with rain predicted later in the week we really wanted to make sure we got a swim in just in case it flooded again! I did a 2 mile swim, mixing in some paddles and buoys with faster laps. The cold water felt amazing on my tired legs! Wednesday was my last hard workout before the race on Labor Day. We had a ladder on the track starting with 3 x 400 and working our way down to 3 x 100, all on a descending rest. The 400’s, 300’s and 100’s HURT. Something about 200’s just feel good though, maybe I am not pushing myself had enough on these? Thursday I did an indoor ride with short, hard sets. I had no problems getting my heart rate up above 150 during the harder parts. This was a solid workout! Saturday was just a short ride on the trainer, quick and easy 20 minutes building my heart rate up to 160 and keeping my cadence above 85 the entire ride. Sunday was a 15 minute run, no goals for this workout. Just an easy pace! Race report coming soon!
